Lakaset // Cover Design
Yiğitcan Erdoğan, Ilgın Nehir Akfırat, and Dr. Kaan Bolat come together every Thursday at 10:00 PM on PowerApp with Lakaset, a show they created to simulate Ankara’s warm living room conversations while playing music and chatting over it. In each episode, Nehir and Kaan, along with the audience, try to guess the hidden theme that connects the songs Yiğitcan has selected.
Lakaset is a radio show that blends music and conversation, inspired by the cozy, intellectual, and often humorous atmosphere of Ankara’s salon culture. Hosted by Yiğitcan Erdoğan, Ilgın Nehir Akfırat, and Dr. Kaan Bolat, the show offers a unique listening experience where songs are not just played but interwoven with a deeper narrative.
Each episode features a curated selection of tracks connected by a secret theme, which the co-hosts and listeners attempt to decipher together. This engaging format turns passive listening into an interactive experience, making Lakaset more than just a music program—it’s a playful and nostalgic homage to the art of storytelling through sound.
So, of course their logo had to be engaging, but humble starts exist, right?
ALL CAPS PLEASE!
We quickly recognized that using all capital letters would help avoid an overly nostalgic tone. After all, Lakaset was introducing a fresh and innovative radio show format—one where the audience could actively engage and find a space for themselves. With this in mind, we opted for an all-caps approach, experimenting with colors and forms to reinforce the show’s dynamic identity. This exploration led to the idea of designing the “LA” as an equalizer, visually reflecting the rhythm and energy of the program.
Dark Background
I was truly excited about the collaboration with Ece Sezer, as her photography brought a unique depth and atmosphere to the visual identity of Lakaset. The way her images blended with my designs created a cohesive and immersive aesthetic that perfectly aligned with the show’s spirit. Since her photographs often featured dark backgrounds, I decided not to work against this natural tone but rather to enhance it. Instead of forcing contrast, I leaned into the mood by opting for a negative logo approach. This choice allowed the visuals to feel more integrated, ensuring that the branding remained bold and striking while still maintaining harmony with the photographic elements. The result was a look that felt organic yet intentional, reinforcing the modern yet nostalgic essence of Lakaset.
Cheers to the final application!
