ABOUT

“From this ignoramus, spelling out signs, to the scientist who constructs hypotheses, the same intelligence is always at work – an intelligence that translates signs into other signs and proceeds by comparisons and illustrations in order to communicate its intellectual adventures and understand what another intelligence is endeavouring to communicate to it.

This poetic labour of translation is at the heart of all learning. (…)”

Jacques Rancière // translated by Gregory Elliott

I am Ilkin Tasdelen, a bachelor of industrial design and a thesis student of Open Design at <Matters of Activity>

I am currently working on my masters studies on the field on Open Design which is a joint degree program organized by University of Buenos Aires and Humboldt University of Berlin. I contributed to several projects on mycelium and growing materials in the program. I am deeply interested in system design and material design which are for me two frames of design, macro and micro respectively and this approach includes growing materials as well as pondering on sustainability and interrelation of things in design and production processes.

I also hold a bachelor’s degree of Industrial Design from Middle East Technical University. I performed in different industries such as aviation and domestic appliances between 2015-2017. I have also taken part in social development projects and served as a project identity designer and CI designer untill 2021.

Collaborative artistic projects and inter-semiotic translation of ideas were always my passion, therefore, I designed many 2D covers of the projects, stories, podcasts as a free time activity. Please also find my 2D portfolio on behance to dive in the dreamland figures of stories.
